A Maverick Heart: Between Love and Life

When people of similar frequencies come together, output is not a simple sum of individual work, but exponential. In science we term this phenomenon as resonance. Output at this stage is beyond any logical limit. Three young kids, with different family backgrounds and outlook meet during their graduation days at IIT-Bombay campus and become close friends. Although, individually they are in sync, but the same is not true for their interaction with the world. How will their relation withstand the conflict of family and society pressure? How do their characters shape out, as they traverse from an educational environment through the corporate world to the realm of the social-political world? Inspired by the real events across the globe from the last decade, Ravindra Shukla brings you the characters based story – struggle and triumphs of young generation and their relevance in the current socio-eco-political era.

Plot/Context -
Book is inspired by some of the most prominent IITian’s personality and their journey from academic world to the social-political world. It is based on the actual events from the last decade across the globe (IIT-B campus, Silicon Valley – California, Wall Street – NYC). It covers the journey of three youth - their peak vibrant period between 18 years and 26 years and three critical phases of life – Academic, Corporate and Social-political world.

The story revolves around the lives of three friends in IIT, one girl and two guys. The book goes through the ups and downs in their lives (college life, personal life, professional life). Depiction of love relation and friendship during academic life is very meaningful and realistic. In corporate and professional section – plot covers the glamour and up/down of Wall Street. Difference in Silicon Valley entrepreneur’s passionate interest vs glamour and manipulation of Wall Street has been described beautifully.  Finally journey takes you to the current social struggles people facing in country and their transition to political level.

We can relate to protagonist a lot who in one line is "a brilliant mind who chooses to follow his heart". The best part of the book is the discussion between characters which stimulate your mind and heart at the same time, a great mix of philosophy and logic in these discussions. Language is very simple, which makes it a very easy read as well.

Character based story inspired by international events – 1996 thru 2006
- Campus academic life (Relation between three close friends, Richita-Rahul love relation, students-faculty elation, Craze for credit race in academic world)
- Middle class family conflicts – Decision based on security/insecurity, generation conflicts
- Silicon Valley VS Wall Street in US – Entrepreneurship (Creator) VS Wall Street (Deal Maker)
- Glamour of making millions/successful life, The Rat race and Quality time concept
- Corporate world: USA Wall street life, Multi Billionaire IPO, Internet/wireless/emerging technology Boom/Burst
- India social-political reform movement (RTI) – Entry of young and rich self-made persons in politics
- Integrating educational institute and channelizing youth energy to single platform to address issues country facing today

Main Characters
Richita – She is combination of beauty and brains. She comes from an upper middle class. Her father, Dr. Deen Dayal, is a professor in Lucknow University and is in very powerful position in state politics. He is very protective of Richita. Mother plays a key role in shaping Richita character. Richita – a smart and beautiful girl – tries to follow family and society norms till the end when she cannot ignore her own consent.

Rahul – Son of an Air-force fighter pilot officer, who lost his life in Kashmir in 1990 when Rahul was still in school. Very sharp but highly emotional character, he goes with his heart and believes in instant action (Genius in mind, socialist by heart, rebel against anything wrong in society). Although miles away from glamour and charm of any girl, he could not resist Richita beauty and attitude. Their relation attaches new meaning to eternal love.

Neerav – Comes from a wealthy businessman family. He knows what is right/wrong but flows with current flow in life. He follows predefined path, focuses on career and success. He is capitalist in belief. Rahul is his best friend. Neerav enjoys life to full extent, is not an emotional character but knows where real talent lies in society and corporate world.

All alone in this world of mine,
Not a care for the world have I...
Only you keep my eyes open wide,
Yes, it’s true…
I LIVE FOR YOU…

Can people already committed in a relationship fall in love again? Yes, it happened with Shria and Aaditya. They fall in love with each other when already committed with two different persons. As separation becomes unbearable, they decide to make confessions to everyone which results in a catastrophe. As the days pass, the torment soothes. From Aaditya and Shria they turn into  'Adishri’….two bodies yet one soul and their love climbs the ladder of maturity and faith. For the betterment of her career, Shria has to leave for France for a couple of months. Everything is picture perfect until Destiny plays a different plan. Will they survive this sudden change or get separated?
“I Live for You…” is a tender love story of Aaditya and Shria which was planned by Destiny, but goes through an unpredicted twist in the tale.

A chapter from the book:

That night Aaditya returned quite late at his home from the wedding. Shria was still awake. Aaditya’s uncle, aunt and few cousins had come at his place to stay as they stayed far from the wedding venue.
It was not possible for him to talk to Shria as his uncle slept in his room. He was annoyed but had no option with him. He messaged Shria.

‘Uncle is sleeping next to me...can we chat through sms?’

She replied-
‘Something is better than nothing...fine!’

Aaditya: Don’t get upset shona...anyways tell me...what were you doing?

Shria: Listening songs...lets play a game...I will send u a line of any song...you either send me the same songs next
line or some other song...what say?

Aaditya: I am going to lose this...anyways I will try. You can start.

Shria: “Tumhi Dekho na...Yeh kya ho gaya?”

Aaditya: “Tumhara hu main...aur tum meri!”J

Shria: Wow! Very good! See you are so good at it!

Aaditya: Thanks to you...I have to forcibly listen to all these songs...all my favourite English numbers are nowhere
in my playlist..

Shria: hehehehe...ok now shut up...here comes another one..
“Baat na kisise saaya bhi tera...kaajal jaha waha tera basera!”

Aaditya did not reply for the next 10 minutes. Shria was sure that he was going to listen to that song and then sms her.

Shria: Cheater!!!

Aaditya: “Aaye jaye suraj chahe jahan mein...tere bina mera ho na sawera!”

Shria: I know you are cheating...but I am enjoying it. Your turn now.

Aaditya: Here comes a kiss flying to my beautiful wifey....mmmuuaahh!!!

Shria: No yaar Aadi...I don’t want your kiss...play the game naL
A few minutes passed.

Aaditya: “Chhed Dun Main Kabhii Pyaar Se To Tang Hotii Ha...
Khaamkhwaah Chuum Lun To Bhii To Jung Hotii Hai...”

Shria: Ohoo...Aadi...superb!! Wait I will reply now...let me think!

Shria too checked her playlist. She was not able to think of any song. After a few searches, she texted him-

Shria: “Come to me...bhool jaye sarah jahan...
Come to me...hum bana le apni nayi jaga...”
I did not understand what to send. L

Aaditya: Anyways good one!

Shria: Oh Aadi baby...I will miss all this...I will miss you a lot!

She placed the pillow on her head and her eyes became watery. She was definitely going to yearn for Aaditya.

She saw all their happy and sad moments infront of her eyes. The memories, someone would pine for lifetime.

Her cell phone blinked in a few seconds.

Aaditya : “Doston Se Jhuuthii Muuthii Duusron Ka Naam Leke Phir Merii Baatien Karna
Yaara Raat Se Din Karna….Lambi Judaai Terii Bada Mushkil Hai
Aahon Se Dil Bharna… Yaara Raat Se Din Karna”  Love you..

Shria: Thankyou shona…I am so lucky to have you as my hubby…

Aaditya: So am I...now go to sleep Shri...you have a flight 2mro...good night!

Shria: “Chupke Se Lag Jaa Gale....Raat Kii Chaadar Tale...
Chaand ki bhi...aahat na ho..Baadal ke piche chale..”
If silence was a language then I will not speak for my entire life to describe my love for you! Good night!

An Interview with Varun Agarwal

Firstly, I would like to begin with the most basic question, how did your journey with the pen begin?
I started writing blogs the FB page of my company. That’s how the whole thing began.

When did you first consider yourself a writer, far from a blogger?
So the blogs started getting really famous and people would write to me asking me when the next blog was coming out. Then a lot of people started telling me I should write a book. That give me the initial push/

What inspired you to write your first book?
Most business books are about the big guys like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Ambanis, and Tatas etc. These guys have been there and done that. While I love their books I could never connect with them because they are at a level I can never think of.  At least not now. I always wanted a book about a guy who just started because that’s someone whom I can connect with. That was my main inspiration. And if I can get the guy reading my book to think if can do it then so can he.

What books have highly influenced your life?
I would say the Life and Times of Howard Hughes.

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Oh definitely Roald Dahl. Though if he were alive he would be horrified with my writing.

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
Yup. I'm a huge fan of Chuck Palahniuk. He wrote The Fight Club.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in you latest book?
Improve my writing I guess.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?
So the new book is a sequel to the first one. A lot has happened since the first book and that is what the new book will cover.

Do you have to travel much concerning your books?
Nope. Why travel when you can reach out to the entire would through Social Media.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?
Just writing the book. I've never written before and it one of the toughest things I've ever done.

Do you have any advice for other writers?
I really don’t think I'm qualified to give advice to any authors.

Finally, do you have anything specific that you want to say to our readers (The TeenMag)?
Yup. Don’t think before you take the leap. Take the leap and then do all the fucking thinking.

This book is meant for,
Those dreaming of igniting the spark of love in the Girl or Guy of their dreams;
Those ‘turtle-ing’ (progressing but slow) around their relationship;
Those who are confused whether it's the right move, right pace or the right way to proceed; and
Those who are missing the charm in their relationship.

You and Me and Our Relationship is neither a Fictional Story nor a Hypothesis. It is a theory that will rewrite the script of your love life forever. This book gives you an insight into how a person perceives love and what causes attraction between a girl and a guy. While reading the book, I couldn't help imagining myself in the situations that have been described in the book. Frankly speaking, once you get this book in your hand and read the synopsis, then you will never post pond your reading, you will surely go with it in one read.

You and Me and Our Relationship, is the first attempt from the 21 old engineering student which deals with an extra ordinary story not just like the other fictional books. This books is not dealing with the your girlfriend-love-wife matter, as most of the fictional books of today deals with the same type of matter but this is simply about how to approach the girl you like and to make her your girlfriend through the 32 chapters of his book.
Serious efforts have to be taken in order to make the book a flawless read. Apart from these things, everything is just perfect and I give 4 on 5 to this novel. It is still his first novel, and he can a long way as an author.
So, all remains left is just an appreciation, applause and finally a strong recommendation.

Fun on the Go - Girls, if you wanna know how much thought process and preparation went through your guy's mind before he approached you for the first time, then do go for this book!!

This is not only a story rather it is a real confession of a lover..!!!

After a long time I came across something original and fresh in the name of love. There has been numerous stories of chasing and finding one’s love but Vinit Bansal’s ‘I m heartless’ is different as it’s a story of finding one’s true love and then loosing it in ignorance. If finding a true love is a blessing then loosing a true love is equally catastrophic. Sometimes true love is just around but we fail to recognize it and by the time we acknowledge it...its too late. Words coated with deep felt emotions are spreading their fragrance throughout the novel and what makes it class apart is the honest treatment of events and characters.
Protagonist of the novel, Viren, seems so real that anyone ends up finding a shade of his/her own self in his character. In other words it’s a deep psychological postmortem of present day youth which is often charged with aimlessness, confusion, wrong priorities, a lost generation but in essence a never understood generation. It peeps into the minds of new generation through its characters how they think, how they react in certain circumstance and how they take life. Vinit has successfully portrayed the damaging effects of guilt on a human heart.
Set in the backdrop of a university this another heart-touching campus novel proves that love naturally finds its place midst of books and pressure of exams. The awe-inspiring narrative is so beautifully encapsulated that any student can find the reflection of his/her own campus in the novel. The captivating plot didn’t allow me to leave the story for a second or third sitting. It needs to be gulp-down in one go to relish the intoxicating taste of love to the fullest. Hope this mix bag of velvetiness of love, true love, betrayal, hatred, guilt and innocence will keep thrilling the readers for long.
The book needs one read, and again and again. Its a great start for the author.

An Interview with the Author of An Idiot,Placements & IntervYou - Toffee

1.Firstly, I would like to begin with the most basic question, how did your journey with the pen begin?
Ans : I started writing the book way back in 2010, to distract myself from the girl I loved and lost. Though I had a good job, loving family and caring friends, there was some emptiness inside me and I was craving to do something to move on with life. It was then I started writing an unusual book on placements and interviews which I felt would help thousands of engineering students.
The line from my book – “When you are not happy, make the world around you happy. It might not give you immense happiness. But it will take away your sadness” – summarizes the essence. So, that’s how it all began.

2.When did you first consider yourself a writer, far from a blogger?
Ans : I don’t consider myself a writer.

3.What inspired you to write your first book?
Ans : Love

4.What books have highly influenced your life?
Ans : I am not an avid reader. But I love ‘The Alchemist’ by Paulo Coelho and 'Outliers' by Malcolm Gladwell. Lost count of the number of times I read the two books.

5.If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Ans : Umm.. Err..

6.Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
Ans : It may sound a little weird but I don’t really know a lot of authors, let alone new ones. I myself am very new to this world of publishing and I hope that someday, someone says my name when asked this question :P

7.If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
Ans : Yes, I would probably lessen the intensity of emotions portrayed in the first five pages of the book. I’ve been getting a few mails from readers saying the first few pages brought tears in their eyes. I’d prefer making people smile, rather than making them cry. Nevertheless, though the book begins with a sad account, the rest of the book is fun and entertaining(And informative as well)

8.Can you share a little of your current work with us?
Ans : I am thinking to write love story of a guy-next-door. It’d be about a guy’s heart and girls’ mind. But I am not sure if I'd be disciplined enough to sit down and write another book. Only time can tell.

9.Do you have to travel much concerning your books?
Ans : No and Yes. Travelling to places – No. Travelling in imagination – Yes.

10. What was the hardest part of writing your book?
Ans : The hardest part was to interlace information with entertainment, thereby making the book ‘infotaining.’ I had to do lot of homework for that.
Another tough part was the experiment of mixing genres. Though the book is a non-fiction self-help book, it’s written like a novel. That is what is the USP of the book. It was quite difficult to weave so much information in the form of a story and to ensure seamless transition from one topic to another. Only recently, I came to know that this style of writing is categorized as ‘Narrative non-fiction’ or ‘Creative non-fiction’.

11.Do you have any advice for other writers?
Ans : Honestly, I am too ordinary a guy to give any advice.

12.Finally, do you have anything specific that you want to say to our readers (The TeenMag)?
Ans : Life moves on. But don’t just let it pass you by.

-Akhil Ramesh
