Questions To Expect During An Engineering Interview

Here a business analyst based in Bangalore, Avik Banerjee, tells us about what kind of questions one can be asked during an interview.

Q: Introduce yourself-who are you and what do you do. How did you get the job? Through an internship? Through an ad in the papers?

My name is Avik Banerjee and I am currently a Business Analyst at Tata Consultancy Services. I was taken aboard by TCS through the on-campus recruitment that was conducted in my final year of college. I joined as an Engineer with the designation of "Assistant Systems Engineer" and have now managed to move onto a business role which would be appropriate considering my long-term career goals.

Q: What are 3 frequently asked questions in interviews?

Some are:
(i)   Talk about the subject that you liked the most in your tenure in college.
(ii)  What do you wish to be 5 years from now?
(iii) How flexible are you in terms of the location of your posting?

Q: What tips would you give someone appearing for an interview?

I think it is important to be yourself and honest. Despite the pressures of an interview and the overwhelming career opportunities at stake, it is important to be perspicacious and sincere to the interviewer. More importantly, know your curriculum and present yourself well.
